How-do-you-do,
I am expecting my first babe in August and have had my Fiat 500 for 2 years. Having read mixed reviews I am now in a muddle. The pushchair bug I tin can overcome...now I take issues with automobile seats.
I occasionally utilize my Fiat 500 to take my nephews (both 2yrs) out. I detect it a struggle to fit the larger machine seats in the back. The just way to exercise so is to put i rear seat downwards and put the seat in at an angle through the kick upside down. Information technology is then another struggle to get the boys in the motorcar seat equally the passenger seat does not fold or slide frontward enough to exist able to easily lift the boys in - I cease upwards twisting myself around the motorcar door and almost throwing them in - safely of course ;-). By the fourth dimension I need a larger seat I will accept upgraded as I am familiar with struggle - that or the machine seat will stay in the car and I will continue to contort to get the infant in!
The buggy doesn't worry me so much as I can always store information technology on the rider seat or boot. What worries me is that I will not be able to put the car seat consummate with infant in at an angle through the boot. I considered using the forepart seat with airbag turned off only have been put off by claims that this is unsafe every bit manufacturers cannot guarantee that the airbag will not actuate. I would probably invest in an isofix base to brand things a trivial easier but my question is.....
Has anyone experienced a newborn, a automobile seat and a Fiat 500 earlier and how frustrating have you found information technology - I dearest my auto to bits only is it worth the hassle every solar day? I can imagine my patience will be thin as it is without my beloved motorcar causing bug.
Assistance much appreciated!
Zoe :-)

Im not going to be much help im afraid except to say please dont put a buggy in a rider seat or footwell. In an accident it will go a lethal missle and could impale/ seriously someone no matter how wedged in secure it becomes. ...same with splitting seat and any objects in boot.
I think the manufacteurs are covering themselves about the airbag to be honest. I read someone recently that in that location have been no reported incidents of deactivated going off since some date in the 90s. This was probably on an extended rearfacing page. If I see it again I will link information technology.

If you do stick with the automobile the britax babysafe is one of the most generous babe carriers size wise.

Or wait at an extended rear facing seat from nascence like the klippan buss or cybex Sirona. Await at incarsafetycentre.co.uk

Thank you Lagoonhaze, I took this advice from other threads - your advice makes sense! And so it seems a pushchair and a babe are probably a no no with a 500 sadly.
Bran - aye I recognise this method - I am 5'1" littlen merely I still find it hard to make it this mode although this is with the car seat then may be why - a booster and normal seat belt may be easier to handle which is skilful news for the futurity!
Thanks for all your suggestions, isofix looks likely but Fiat 500 still questionable, very sad to say :-((

I would double cheque the air purse thing. I had a rf automobile seat in the front of my auto when I could switch the airbag off myself, but when I wanted to get it switched off by the garage on another automobile the route safety guy advised confronting this. And then if you can practise information technology yourself information technology might be ok?
ZoeBarker Tue 26-Feb-thirteen 22:49:11
nicm - that is a good indicate, I may contact fiat directly to ask, I suppose at that place wouldn't be much point in being able to plow it off yourself?! I will attempt to find out, thank you!

cybex sirona is suitable from nascence to historic period 4. No idea if it volition fit in the back of your car, but if it does, it has a hinge organization so you can turn information technology sideways so it will be easier to load in the baby. Unfortunately the seat will accept to stay in the car, merely information technology is incommunicable probably to find a seat that will get in with infant in it through the door.
A quinny zapp xtra is suitable from birth and folds up tiny, effort and see if one of those will become in your kicking. As said in a higher place, don't exit a buggy lying around in the passenger area of the motorcar.

the cybex site says it is compatible with a fiat 500. it doesn't mean it volition recline enough though so might not be suitable from newborn. You lot really demand to go to a expert place to see if you tin go a seat fitted.
If i were you I'd change cars to a 5 door. Even if you can go a baby in yours, the baby will grow and you lot'll end up having to change before long enough anyway.

I've a car smaller so a 500.
I used to put baby in and out over the boot, e.g boot open lean over the boot and put baby in the back. I'd also exit the seat in and simply take baby out. Tbh I found the seat AND baby too heavy to lift anyway, then it's what I did even with 5dr cars.
I had a petit star zia, fitted in the boot equally the front bicycle pops off. Although I'm sure there's lots of 'prettier' buggies that do the aforementioned now.
Once I'd worked out the practical side the little machine was easier to live with then the 'family' cars.

My girl's about 3 and we've had a 500 since she was built-in. Nosotros had an isofis base and maxi-cosi car seat as a new built-in, fitted behind the front end passenger seat. It was a flake of a struggle, at times, to go the seat in identify but one time you get the knack, works perfectly well. In that location were but about 2 buggies that would fit in the boot and the one we used was massively heavy but there seem to be more lightweight ones now. It really can be washed! Enjoy your new babe!
